The Adventure

Woodsmoke is a little world in itself and many of our guests do not even feel the need to leave the property during their entire stay. Browse our eclectic mix of book titles, play out your moves on a chess board, work up a sweat in our fitness centre, spin a few yarns around the bonfire and if the forest beckons – walk right in for an invigorating dose of pine-scented air.

The list goes on...

GAMES ROOM

From the exasperating Snakes & Ladders move on to the quiet contemplation of the chess board in our glass-fronted Games Room with a 3600 view of the surrounding ranges and valleys.

If you prefer a more lively environment, you can always use the game boards in the Café.

READING LOUNGE

Choose from an eclectic mix of titles – fiction and non-fiction – to while away a lazy afternoon. And if you are a night owl, do choose a chair next to the fireplace for company.

For our young guests, we have an extensive range of comics, picture books and folk tales that will keep them engaged for hours.

CHILDREN'S PLAY AREA

CHILDREN’S PLAY AREA (second para): A dedicated indoor play area, all bright hues and colourful lights, provides endless entertainment to your precious little ones. Step in to a magic world of games, toys, books and boards.

And then there is always the play nook in the Reading Lounge for the quiet ones who would rather snuggle with a stuffed toy and a jigsaw puzzle.

FITNESS CENTRE

The Woodsmoke Fitness Centre is where you can exercise your choice of charging up or winding down. Gear up for a long day of recreational sightseeing or of lengthy business discussions in our airy gym section. Large picture windows bring in the outdoors as you pump the adrenaline to techno beats on our machines.

And if relaxation is what you seek, then deep soak in the jacuzzi to a soft instrumental. Or simply relax your muscles and soothe your mind in the sauna or the steam shower. Yoga sessions are available on request.

Pool or Table Tennis? Take your pick in our glass-panelled Fitness Centre.

OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES
Treks

Woodsmoke is surrounded by cattle trails and foot tracks. Stop along the way to pick a few wild gooseberries or a rhododendron to tuck in the hair. Keep your camera ready for you never know when you will chance upon a deer or a fox!

Our staff, many from the surrounding areas, would be happy to serve as guides or carry along a picnic basket should you wish to take a break in the scenic spots – waterfalls, glens, hilltop hollows – that dot the countryside, both on and off the beaten track.

Tours

Shimla, being the summer capital during the British Raj, has an interesting legacy of castles and churches that are absolutely worth a visit. You can also make day trips to nearby tourist destinations such as Shimla, Kufri, Naldehra, Chail and Mashobra.

A temple tour is also a must in this land of the Gods, quite appropriately called DevBhoomi. Considering that Woodsmoke nestles under the Tara Devi Temple, we especially recommend a walk or a drive to the hilltop temple. You will also find many small temples dedicated to local deities along the way.

Village visits

Should you so desire, we can organise a visit to a hillside village where you can enjoy a first-hand experience of local culture and hospitality. We guarantee that this is one experience that will warm your hearts for evermore.

Forest bathing

Walk into the forest next door, find a moss-covered patch to cushion your city-tired body, cleanse your lungs with deep breaths of the bountiful oxygen and drift away to the lullaby of the pine-scented breeze. Perfect!

Others

Just call down to Reception if chilly evenings make bonfires seem an excellent idea. And if sunny days prompt the thought of shooting a few basket-ball hoops or challenging a fellow guest to a game of darts – well, call Reception again.
